Transient the Next Step

How We Got Our Start Transient The Next Step Inc. was founded by Diane DeLoatch-King. During her sixteen years of working with domestic violence victims, Diane saw a need for more therapeutic programmining for surivors and their families. Due to many dv programs not having the capacity to house victims for a long duration of time, many victims left the shelter program feeling anxious and concerned abouttheir next step.Transient The Next Step Inc. was created to provide support, advocacy, and resources for families in a safe and therapeutic way.Our objective is to collaborate with organizations and schools to provide a healthy environment for survivors to feel safe and supported.  â€‹â€‹

Therapeutic Art Classes

The Purpose of our Therapeutic Arts Program is to allow individuals to express their feelings on any subject through creative work rather than with speech. It is believed to be particularly helpful for those who feel out of touch with their emotions or feelings.

Individuals experiencing difficulty discussing or remembering painful experiences may find art especially beneficial.

As a Domestic Violence Program, our goal is to offer an environment where it is safe to experiment and create.

Youth Against Violence Art Program

The purpose and goal of Youth Against Violence Art Program, is to help provide skills and education to break the cycle of violence and its negative effect on the youth. The program is a support and education program which includes a non-judgmental atmosphere and a trauma informed approach, which encourages a more safe and effective way to maintain a supportive, nurturing and structured environment.

The program also allows students to express their thoughts and feelings about youth violence, educating them about the choices they have and promoting peer interaction and respect for one another .

Included in the sessions is information on risk and protective factors, prevention strategies, types of youth violence and resources on how to get support if they or someone they know has experienced youth violence.
